From a 14 year old boy on sound crew in high school (who happened to be wearing a lime green Mt. Dew NASCAR jacket) to dancing Coast 2 Coast in all 50 states (including the ALDC) being in a ton of dance recitals and gaining a new family (especially with my Papa Louie)— the legacy of VP Dance Academy will hold a special place in the hearts of so many people… and it’s all because of what Louie and Francine dreamed up together.

20 years of incredible memories, passion and positivity— from the Genie to Elvis and beyond, I am forever thankful and grateful to be a part of this story. I’ve met some of my best friends at the studio, we’ve done some amazing things together and I honestly wouldn’t change one minute of it.

Here’s to two incredible decades of VP Dance Academy— a place where we all learned to live, love, laugh and Never Give Up! Thank you to Louie and Francine for all you’ve done, the memories will live on for years to come (and so will Louie’s hairstyles throughout the years, as you’ll see when you scroll through these pics!)

23 years ago today, I sat in Mrs. Mahusky’s 5th grade class at Fishkill Elementary School. It was a normal day of 5th grade, until other kids were slowly getting picked up early— long before noon, only a handful of others were left in class. Our Principal Mrs. Craft came over the loud speaker that day to give an announcement that must have been extremely hard to do in an elementary school. She said that “there has been an act of terror against the United States in New York City. There is no cause for alarm and most of your parents will be picking you up early.” Within a half hour, everyone left as their parents picked them up crying. We got home and the World Trade Center was on every television station.

Shortly after, the towers collapsed. I witnessed this just shy of 10 years old and it’s something I’ll always remember. I will never forget those who lost their lives, those who were and are still fighting for our lives, and how a country known as the world’s “melting pot” came together to show how proud we all are to be Americans.

In the words of President @georgewbush on 9/11/01: “America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.”
